PMS is a condition characterized by nervousness, irritability, emotional instability, depression, and possibly headaches, edema, and painful breasts. According to the Merck Manual, PMS occurs during the 7 to 10 days before menstruation and disappears a few hours after the onset of menstrual flow.
The name PMS describes a broad range of symptoms that are severe enough to disturb a woman's life and cause her to seek help. The condition is diagnosed on the basis of when symptoms are present.
What men do not understand is that an emotional roller coaster becomes a woman's way of life. Crying for no reason, hostility, depression, pain, and thinking that you are going crazy is no way to have to live.
What is overlooked in our society is the tremendous role that nutrition plays in PMS. Remember a woman's cycle is based on her hormones and her nervous system. Hormones are created from fatty acids and the nervous system runs on the minerals, calcium and potassium. The other overlooked piece is the role that enzymes play in the digestion of the diet and the absorption of the nutrients (fat) to create hormones, and (calcium and potassium) to run the nervous system.
After 25 years of successfully treating female nutrition problems, I can tell you with 100% confidence and certainty to have a functional digestive nutritional work up complete with an enzyme level check, to determine where your imbalances lie and see how you can start to feel better.
